ACOs employ a number of resources to accomplish their objectives. They include the use of preferred providers who are committed to quality, data analytics, care managers and professional management. The business model rewards physicians based on the results achieved.
DCE: The Next Generation for ACOs
In 2021, Medicare started their Globeal and Professional Direct Contracting Model for traditional Medicare beneficiaries. This model added preferred provider networks with negotiated discounts to the tools utilized by ACOs. In 2023, this model will become known as ACO REACH with an emphasis on health equity. There approareximately 200 DCEs (Direct Care Entities) or REACH ACOs serving the populations of most states in this innovation center model.
ACO/DCE Networks
While ACOs are growing in popularity they are still a relatively new option in healthcare, especially as it relates to direct contracting. The size and access afforded by ACOs vary by entitiy and market. Well Team Partners helps ACOs, DCEs and other entities accelerate the development of more extensive preferred provider networks.
